Non-heme iron needs to be converted to a soluble ferrous form before uptake. Due to low absorption, reactive free iron ions remain in the gut which cause gastrointestinal side-effects (nausea, vomiting, gastric pain, diarrhea and constipation).
Absorption is influenced by meal composition and gastric acid.1
Heme iron is absorbed as a whole unit. No free iron ions are present in the gut. Unabsorbed heme will not cause side-effects. This form of iron is highly bioavailable, meaning it is efficiently utilized by the body to support essential functions.

Do not use if you have allergy to cow products.
A very serious allergic reaction to this product is rare. Hypersensitivity has been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use. Some people may experience constipation, diarrhea, stomach/abdominal cramping and vomiting. Iron may cause your stools to turn black, an effect that is not harmful.
Keep out of sight and reach of children. There is enough iron in this package to seriously harm a child if ingested. Do not use if safety seal is broken or missing.
Take one (1) capsule once daily, or as recommended by a health care provider. Take a few hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products. Take with food. Consult your health care provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition, or when taking other medication.
Keep container tightly closed. Store between 15°C to 30°C.
